Geographical positioning

Giurgiu County is located in the plain area of Muntenia, at an altitude of approximately 25 meters above sea level. Set between hills and valleys of a particular picturesque, the geographical position, the climate and the soil are ideal for the cultivation of a wide range of grape varieties, each of which brings its own unique characteristics to our wines.

The history of the region

The area of the Springs was part of the kingdom of Dacia ruled by King Decebalus. Here, numerous Dacian settlements developed, and this area was considered strategic from the military point of view of its geographical position. After the conquest of Dacia by the Romans, it became part of the province of Dacia Inferior. During this period and continuing with the Middle Ages, until today, the Izvoarele Zone became an important geographical node that connected the south of the Danube with the Romanian Land. The favorable conditions for the cultivation of vines, as well as the military and commercial roads that passed through this area, led to the development of viticulture, thus becoming an important economic activity to this day.

Climatic and pedological conditions

The climate is an important factor that can influence the quality of the wine through the intake of temperature, precipitation and solar radiation.

Soil also has a significant impact on wine quality, as it can directly affect the aroma, taste and texture of the wine, as well as the ripeness and texture of the grapes.

Our vineyards are located in the south, in the Romanian Plain, a region dominated by ample sun and excellent drainage. The soils are rich in minerals and the climate is mild and temperate with slightly hot summers, which allows the grapes to develop slowly and fully, resulting in sweeter wines with balanced and consistent flavors and aromas.

Regarding the quality of the soil, it is characterized by the predominance of brown forest soils, but there are also clayey, pasture and meadow soils. Izvoare commune is located near the Argeș river and its tributary, the Neajlov river. The latter crosses the commune and ensures a constant and sufficient port of water.

Grape varieties

The red grape varieties we grow include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Pinot Noir. For white wines, we grow Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon & Riesling among others. We also experiment with lesser-known grape varieties to create unique and innovative wines that go beyond the limitations of traditional winemaking.

Wines

We produce red, white and rosé wines with intense aromas of red or white fruit, wildflowers, notes of aromatic herbs, as well as a fresh acidity and  a velvety texture.
